Underwater Easter Egg Hunt @ Tyler State Park
April 26 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
Oh, springtime in Texas. With the weather looking pretty rainy this Saturday, the Scubadillo annual Underwater Easter Egg Hunt has been CANCELLED.
The rangers close the Tyler State Park lake when it rains and storms, so we couldn’t be in the water anyway. So please adjust your schedules and join us, maybe adding some pre-Cinco de Mayo cheer!
Everything remains the same for our day-trip event. Sorry, no spots available for campers.
Costs
Park entrance fee is $6 per adult and free for kids up to 12 years old. MUST SHOW C-CARD IF YOU DIVE!
Meal and hunt are FREE to paid Dillo members and $10 for everyone else.
Day-Use Picnic area south of the swimming area. Look for the famous Scubadillo yellow banner.
Schedule
11:30ish – Lunch at the “Day Use” Picnic area south of the swimming area. The Dillos will supply water and grilled hamburgers. Bring a side dish to share.
To avoid eight containers of potato salad (lol) and let us know how many hamburgers to provide, please RSVP with this food sign-up sheet.
1 p.m. – Staging at the swimming area
2 p.m. – The hunt is on!!!
Prizes for 1st-, 2nd- and 3rd-place winners.
The dive
We should have 6- to 10-foot visibility. Eggs will be floating on a string at about 8-15 feet, 5-mil wet suit or thicker. Depends on how hardy you are. Bottom time is about 30 minutes.
How to get there
Tyler State Park is located approximately 90 miles east of Dallas on I-20. Take exit 562 toward FM 14/Hawkins/Tyler and turn left on FM 14 (State Park Highway). The park is two miles north of Tyler. Turn left on Park Road 16 to the park’s entrance. Continue on Park Road 16, keep left to stay on the south side of the lake until you reach the Day-Use Picnic area and see our big yellow Scubadillo banner.
TIP: Buy your entry pass online now. Park officials are managing the crowds during this popular spring time.
Fins up!
