Come out to our next meeting.Staff Sergeant Jason Morgan, US Air Force (ret.) will present his amazing story for the Thursday, December 6, 2018 Scubadillo Dive Club meeting. Jason grew up in North Dallas, enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1989 and after intense training, he qualified as a member of an elite special operations unit that provided meteorological and combat support for operations behind enemy lines. In 1999, with only a few days left of his deployment in South America, Jason volunteered to provide security for a vehicle during a supply run. A freak vehicle accident in the Andes Mountains left him paralyzed from the waist down and in a coma for six weeks. In 2011, Jason and his three sons earned their Scuba open water certification. His youngest son currently serves in the US Air Force. In 2012, an infection resulted in the amputation of one of his legs. In spite of these physical, mental and emotional challenges, Jason still has an incredible thirst to live an adventurous life and never allows himself to be a victim of his circumstance. He has participated in the Military Paralympics for Team Air Force in the Warrior Games and competed in several long distance races, even pushing his racing chair 26.2 miles in the Marine Corp Marathon, placing 5th just 6 weeks after his right leg was amputated. Jason is the recipient of the 2017 Congressional Veterans Commendation Award and the 2018 Veterans of Honor Award.
