Wheeler Branch Reservoir has new structures to explore, thanks to our friends at Fire Fight Underwater Recovery
Hang out with the Dillos in-person or online
Please join us for our monthly in-person Scubadillo meeting, Thursday, Sept. 2, at On the Border in Addison. We’ll host a Zoom option, too — details below.
Our guest speaker will be Kyle Omberg, a retired Fort Worth firefighter, with Fire Fight Underwater Recovery. The organization works and trains with multiple public safety dive teams throughout the country, responding to flood and storm-damaged areas, as well. A certified Underwater Criminal Investigator, Kyle processes crime scenes, reports and testifies with his findings.
He and his team have been instrumental in making Wheeler Branch Reservoir in Glen Rose (our most recent Dillo event location) more diver-friendly. Along with helicopters, a bus and lots of fish, the lake now has “Wheeler’s Run,” a system of concrete tubes to explore.
This structure consists of six, three-foot diameter tubes set in a “Y” pattern, on cradles (to lift them off the bottom). It’s a great place for cave, wreck and technical diver training.
Our meeting begins at 7 p.m. If your schedule permits, please come for the social/dinner hour around 6 p.m.
And bring some cash for the raffle, which offers fun, mostly useful items!
If you’re staying at home, please join our meeting via Zoom.
