Let’s Dive The Blue Lagoon

Scubadillo Board member and avid diver Mike Lindstrom will be hosting this upcoming annual dive. Check out his note and all the details, below. And consider signing up for this fun weekend (or one-day) adventure.

Hi all,
It’s time to go diving in one of the clearest inland dive destinations in Texas – The Blue Lagoon. It’s just outside of Huntsville, and yes, I know it’s a long drive. From our monthly meeting place in Addison, it’s less than three hours. That’s not too bad. Current water temperature is 87F.

Logistics

Mike is driving down early Saturday morning to claim our reservation by 10 AM. The reservation is under Mike Lindstrom and Scubadillo Dive Club. Our site is “Off Nude” at Lagoon 1. Look for the yellow Dillo banner.

Let’s plan to meet at noon to start the dive. No entry is permitted after 4 p.m. The fee for divers is $21 (check their website for info on non-divers, kids, etc.). Please contact Mike if you plan to go. His contact info is at the bottom.

Camping or Hotel?

When Dillos were there a few years ago, some did it as a day dive. if you want to stay the night, you have a few options:
Primitive camping at the dive site, which allows you to do night dive(s) and early morning dive(s). Mike is camping. Plenty of room for tents.
There are some local hotels in Huntsville, about 15-20 minutes away:
Roadway Inn (1-star)
Motel 6 (2-star)
No higher-end hotels – sorry.

Food, Bevs
Mike is bringing a grill and will get some burgers and condiments for lunch
Bring a side dish to share
Please bring plenty of water, snacks, etc.
If you’re staying the night, let’s all plan to go into Huntsville for dinner
Dive Gear
As you’ll see on the website, you can rent gear down there (e.g. a tank is $15, refills $8).
