Aloha Scubadillos! Join us on our annual Luau Festival and Spring Olympics competitions. This year we will be testing out a new, nearby dive destination in Glen Rose called Wheeler Branch Reservoir Park. This scenic lake park will be a great place for diving, land games and Luau feast.

Must be a current member to participate for free. Guests pay $10 each. Membership applications will be available at the event.

Diving

We’ll begin our diving at around 11 a.m. Expect temperatures in the low 70s on the surface and colder and darker past the various thermoclines. Bring proper hoods, gloves and lights. There is 20-40 foot visibility with lots of fish and sunken objects.

Spring Olympic Games

At around 1:30 p.m. we will start our fun land games like horse shoe throw, golf putting, Frisbee toss, etc. and lots of cool prizes. Bring the whole family! Leashed pets are welcomed too!

Luau Feast

The Scubadillos will begin our Luau Feast of Hawaiian Chicken and some other grilled goodies at about 4 p.m. Please bring a side dish to share with your Scubadillo friends. Visible alcoholic beverages are not allowed at the park, so bring beverage containers.

We will have Luau decorations, so dress up in your favorite tropical attire! We're serious about those grass hula skirts and flower necklaces!

Getting there:

Glen Rose is located southwest of the DFW area. You could do an easy day trip. From the Dallas area, drive on I-35E south and take the right-hand split on Highway 67 to Duncanville, Cedar Hill, Midlothian, Alvarado and Cleburne.

In Glen Rose, take a right on Bo Gibbs Blvd. at the Expo Center/Best Western intersection and another right on Country Road 301. Drive about a half mile to see the park entrance where you will veer left at the “Y” intersection onto CR 326. Look for the distinctively yellow Scubadillo banner.

Bring your own chairs, refreshments, dive gear, tanks, air, snacks and friendly charm. The park’s entrance fee is $8 per adult and $4 per child under 13.

Please RSVP on the Scubadillo’s MeetUp page to get a headcount for dinner.
